VR and AR Makes Social Media Content More Immersive and Engaging

April 14th, 2031

Merging digital and physical spaces has been a major point of interest in tech for many years, hitting a major peak with the release of the Apple Vision Pro in 2024. At the time, although it was technologically impressive, its high price point prevented it from becoming a mainstream part of people’s lives.

However, recent AR/VR equipment has become both more advanced and more affordable, making such technology accessible to the masses. Giant social media companies are now working with news organizations to create immersive VR experiences where people can experience real world events, ranging from concerts to speeches. However, many of these experiences are digitally engineered, and many have voiced concern about their reliability. Many question how these experiences might be altered based on the intentions and goals of the social media company.

And yet, it’s undeniable that digital spaces are becoming increasingly inescapable; social media has become the framework of social life and technology only advances further and further into every sphere of modern society. Only time can tell how far-reaching these advances will be and how ethically they will be handled.
